Jhal Muri
Jhal Muri is a popular street food of Kolkata , made of puffed rice and an assortment of spices, vegetables, chanachur and mustard oil.It is especially popular in Bangladesh and in the neighbouring West Bengal state of India.Food Fact-Mustard Oil has many health benefits being rich in MUFA, PUFA, Omega 3 & 6, Vitamin E, Minerals and anti-oxidants, Mustard oil demonstrates strong Anti-Microbial property and is Anti-inflammatory in nature. Ingredients
- 2 cup Puffed Rice
- 1 medium Tomato (chopped)
- 1 medium Boiled Potato (chopped)
- 1 Onion (chopped)
- 1 small Cucumber (chopped)
- 1/2 cup Freshly Coriander (chopped)
- 5 strands Fresh Coconut (chopped)
- 1 tsp Freshly Ground Masala
- 1 tsp Mustard Oil
- ¼ tsp Red Chilli Powder
- 1 tbsp Lemon Juice
- 1 Roasted Peanuts (handful)
- Papdi Gathiya or Chanachur Mixture (handful)
- Plain Sev
- Salt to Taste
For the Freshly Ground Masala
- 2 tbsp Whole Cumin
- 2 Bay leaf
- 1 tbsp Coriander Seeds
- 2 dry Red Chillies
Slightly roast on low flame, the above spices till dark brown turn off the heat and let it cool. Grind it to fine powder.
Instructions
Step 1
- In a big bowl add potatoes, cucumber, onions, tomatoes, coriander, coconut, peanuts, papdi gathiya, and sev.
Step 2
- Add the spices accordingly and at last add muri to it.Serve immediately.
